HOLY ISLAND AND THE COAST
Holy Island is a tidal island just off the beautiful Northumberland coastline. Also known as Lindisfarne, the ruined monastery and the Lindisfarne National Reserve make a great day trip from The Angel Inn.
If you decide to follow the Northumberland Coastal Route road signs on the way up there, you'll also pass many beautiful, historic and remote places. These include Newbiggin by the Sea, Amble and the beautiful village of Warkworth with it's castle overlooking the village. Continuing North, the pretty village of Alnmouth with it's sand dunes and Dunstanburgh Castle are next, closely followed by Seahouses and then Bamburgh, which is dominated by the impressive Bamburgh Castle on the headland.
