In the heart of Northumberland, a British pub dating back to 1569 in the beautiful village of Corbridge, steeped in Roman history.

Our food is always the main reason to visit using locally sourced produce and it is all tasty, homemade, hearty and naughty served in our bar, wood-panelled lounge with real fire or dog-friendly dining room and our Sunday lunch is very popular with our loyal locals.

We serve a great selection of local cask ale, a super wine list, lots of gin and whisky as well as delicious coffee and tea.

Outside is a great place to watch the world go by; south facing to enjoy a beer in the sunshine or dine outside with fish and chips and perhaps with a bottle of wine.

With traditional bedrooms and an apartment (most are dog-friendly) we are perfect for an enjoyable food and drink led getaway or staycation.

We welcome well-behaved children, dogs, walkers and cyclists, we have a really nice Little Angels menu and we look forward to seeing you soon.

The Angel dates back to 1569 and could possibly be the oldest ‘inn’ in Northumberland. We have a remarkably detailed and factual historical story to tell you and you can see most of it in several areas of our building.

We can even tell you every owner, landlord, innkeeper, and tenant from 1569 until today, and our story is both interesting and charming. No ghost stories though but, we do have a lucky dog!

Our history is really fascinating to our overseas visitors however, it has also captured the interest and curiosity of our Corbridge and Northumbrian guests too and we are always keen to elaborate.

Everything is homemade and prepared by proud, passionate and professional chefs and all our produce is from local suppliers and farms. We make our own sausages, we prepare our local game from local shoots, we make full use of our own-farm lamb and we work extremely hard to provide beautiful menus.

Each day we serve our lunch & "all-day" menu in our Bar, Lounge and Angel's Table. Our Lounge and Angel's Table are both dog-friendly areas.

As our building is almost 500 years old all our rooms are very different yet, quirky, warm, safe and comfortable. Most of our rooms are dog-friendly and we have kept the other rooms completely dog-free.

Perfect for a short break, close to Newcastle for the football, rugby or shopping. Surrounded by castles, countryside and beaches. Ideal for Hadrian’s Wall, Roman Forts and other English Heritage sites. We can even arrange your packed lunch.
